چکیده

In the long term, resilient animals are able to maintain their normal biological processes when confronted with environmental perturbations, reducing risk of being culled. Therefore, longevity can be proposed as an indicator long-term resilience. Decisions remove a given dairy cow from herd mainly related low milk production (i.e., voluntary culling) or reasons other than involuntary culling). The aptitude delay any culling is defined true (TL), whereas functional (FL) ability avoid culling. aim study was investigate influence production, reproduction, morphology, and health traits on TL FL, identify factors for Data included 278,217 lactations 122,461 Holstein Friesian cows reared in 640 herds. length productive life, calculated time between first calving culling, censoring, used measure longevity. Production, reproduction, health, and growth traits in backcross Holstein × Jersey cows and their Holstein contemporaries.

A total of 648 purebred Holstein and 319 backcross Holstein × Jersey dairy cattle were compared for production, reproduction, health, linear type, and growth traits. Animals were born between 2003 and 2009 and were housed in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Integrated Dairy Facility. All animals had Holstein dams; lactating dams were mated to unproven Holstein sires to produce purebred (cont...

Structural Equations Modeling of Hidden Genetic Constructs of Production, Reproduction and Longevity in Holstein Cows in Iran

In structural equation modeling, it is possible to create hidden variables that cannot be directly measured by the researcher. The aim of this study was to model the structural equations of hidden genetic constructs of production, reproduction and longevity of Holstein dairy cows in Iran using breeding value of the traits that make up these constructs. Accordingly, the breeding value of th...

Non-Genetic Factors Affecting Stillbirth and its Effects on Longevity, Production, and Reproductive Performance in Holstein Cows of Iran

The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting stillbirth and the consequences of stillbirth on longevity, production, and reproductive performance in Holstein cows of Iran. Calving records from March 2000 to April 2009 comprising of 220,043 calvings on 102,199 cows in 33 herds were used. The results showed that 4.06% of the newborn calves died within 48 h of birth. The stillbirth...

Estimation of Genetic Parameters for Production and Reproduction Traits of Holstein Cows of Mazandaran Province using Bayesian Approach

The present study was conducted to estimate the genetic and phenotypic parameters of productive and reproductive traits of Holstein cows in Mazandaran Holstein dairy cattle. To this purpose, data 39792 records of Holstein cows collected at Mahdasht Milk and Meat Company in sari during 1986 to 2015 were used. Productive traits included corrected 305 days milk records, fat and protein produ...

Effects of polybrominated biphenyl on milk production, reproduction, and health problems in Holstein cows.

PBB found in relatively low levels among animals present on a cross-section of Michigan farms during the time PBB was inadvertantly added to dairy feeds had no effect upon these animals' milk production, body weight, weight gain, breeding and reproduction performance, incidence of commonly experienced health problems, calving rate, and the health of their calves. No significant differences in t...
